Learn resin casting and mould preparation techniques. Embed fabric, paper and various small objects to create unique objects or jewellery.

Content
Learn how to cast a range of objects into resin to create your own jewellery, sculpture or craftwork. Students will be introduced to various resins and work specifically with clear and coloured epoxy resin. Use a combination of ready -made moulds and your own silicone rubber moulds, learning how to embed different materials into resin, to use fillers to produce different effects and to combine resin with other materials. All related health and safety issues will be covered.
Outcomes
By the end of the course students will have cast their own rubber moulds and completed at least two objects of their own design. They will gain the ability and knowledge to continue with such projects at home.
What you should bring
Resin and pigments will be provided. Students will be required to bring some materials and objects to embed. Please refer to class ticket for details.
About Dominic Lowe
Dominic Lowe is a sculptor and jeweller with a special interest in new techniques, for which he has developed and run private courses. He trained at RMIT and later at NMIT. Dominic has served on the committee of the Jewellers & Metalworkers Group of Victoria and also maintains a small practice in commissioned jewellery.
